BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Design-Build Institute of America will recognize Brasfield & Gorrie and its joint venture partner, RQ Construction, for their work on the Wallace Creek North Bachelor Enlisted Quarters Complex in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. The project will be honored with an Award of Merit later this year.
The Wallace Creek North BEQ was cited for having utilized Design-Build in project delivery and for overcoming significant construction challenges. Specifically, the site was an active Marine Corps base throughout the period of construction. Also, the project team successfully overcame impacts related to record rainfall in the region.
Designed by RQ Construction, the $84-million, 225,000-square-foot project was completed in 2015. It included a five-story multi-wing facility that houses up to 804 Marines in 402 living units, a 650-car parking deck, ancillary structures, athletic courts and associated site improvements and renovations. The project has earned LEED Gold and is recognized as a best-in-class living environment.
