Clark Celebrates Milestone on the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Project

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – After nearly a year of construction, Clark has completed the steel structure for San Francisco, California’s new Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in the city’s Bayview neighborhood. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, city officials and local residents watched as the final beam of the two-story, 46,000-square-foot building was hoisted into place.

Clark is working hand-in-hand with San Francisco Public Works and KMD Architects to deliver the state-of-the-art facility. From the project’s outset, the team committed to meeting local hiring and small business requirements. San Francisco residents make up 30 percent of the project team. Additionally, more than 30 local small businesses are being utilized on the project, with more than half from the Bayview community.

The seismically safe facility features additional space for employees and highly technical laboratories – both essential elements for providing continuous, reliable service. The enhanced capacity will allow employees to efficiently handle cases and produce timely results for victims of crimes, for the criminal justice system and for medical authorities.

Following the completion of the steel structure, Clark will begin to construct the building envelope and install the façade. Substantial completion is scheduled for fall 2017.
