TUCSON, Ariz. – Construction of a new shelter is underway at Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, Arizona. Sundt Construction, Inc. recently began the first phase of the project. The new shelter will be approximately 60,000 square feet. Nearly 93 percent of the total area is allocated to functions that directly house or support the housing, care and adoption of pets at PACC.
Features of the new facility include fresh air and natural lighting throughout the building, well-designed plumbing and cleaning systems for pet housing areas, an expanded veterinary clinic, expanded cat housing areas and indoor/outdoor canine housing units.
The staff and pets of PACC are expected to move into the new facility in December, and Sundt will then begin phase 2 of the construction project, a renovation of PACC’s existing facility.
