MELBOURNE, Australia – The PCL family of companies recently won the Master Builders National Commercial/Industrial Construction Award – Over $100 Million for its work on the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, located in Melbourne, Australia.
The 2017 National Awards for Excellence in Construction recognize innovation, value for money and quality of construction in the residential, commercial and civil construction sectors. Grocon/PCL Joint Venture worked to innovate countless features that allow the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre to become Australia’s leading facility for cancer research and patient care.
Australia’s Master Builders awards are judged by a national panel of independent building industry experts. The award was achieved in part by the following:
- All aspects of the concrete structure were designed and installed to meet specific shielding requirements
- The building fabric, services and the fit-out of “accreditable” spaces had to be validated through a stringent accreditation process to ensure the facility was able to meet requirements for relevant licenses
- Delivery of a $1-billion cancer center on time and on budget
VCCC also won a separate Masters Builders Excellence Award in August 2017.
