NCCER and Build Your Future have announced the fifth annual I BUILT THIS! video contest. Designed to help promote construction as an industry of choice, the contest illustrates the unique perspective of trainees or students and allows them to share videos of their projects.
Craft instructors are invited to add the video contest into their curriculum for the fall as an excellent opportunity to allow students, trainees and instructors to show off their skills and gain attention for school programs. NCCER and BYF encourage submissions from all types of construction and maintenance crafts, as well as secondary and post-secondary programs.
When planning how best to incorporate I BUILT THIS! into your fall curriculum, keep the following criteria in mind:
- Videos must showcase all stages of the project development, where applicable
- Proper safety practices must be demonstrated at all times and by all individuals seen
- Length must be no more than three minutes
- Projects must be relevant to the construction or maintenance industries
Previous winners include entries from a variety of programs: ABC of Metro Washington Apprenticeship Program, Carroll County Career and Technology Center, Columbus Career and College Academy, Dr. Kirk Lewis Career and Technical High School and Southern Air Apprenticeship Program.
