Classic Hilton Head Restaurant Set for Major Facelift

The Quarterdeck Restaurant on the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for decades has been a staple for visitors and local residents. It will now stand to exist for many more thanks to a major construction project underway.

The Sea Pines Resort engaged JE Dunn Construction to helm the project, which includes the demolition of the original structure, followed by the construction of the new Quarterdeck Restaurant, designed by Hart Howerton.

Located next to the historic Harbour Town Lighthouse, the new restaurant will stand two stories tall and expand to 23,000 square feet, rebuilt to reflect a new Harbour Town experience.

The restaurant, which used to have a large patio for outdoor seating, will now have 4,500 square feet of outdoor dining and deck space, offering panoramic views of the 18th green on the Harbour Town Golf Links course, the yacht basin and Calibogue Sound.

Quarterdeck’s redevelopment will also include the construction of a rooftop oyster bar with operable glass walls that open to the outdoors. The bar will open to a second-floor balcony that will allow for a 270 degree view of Harbour Town.

A casual, walk-up market on the ground level will serve as a place to grab a quick bite to go or to stock up on local shrimp for the day from the fresh seafood market. It will open toward the entrance to the Harbour Town Pier, which was rebuilt after being destroyed by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in spring 2022.
