Construction Begins on New Building of Sanxingdui ‘Smart’ Museum

CSCEC recently began construction on the new building of the Sanxingdui Museum, located in Deyang, China. With the construction area of about 55,000 square meters, the new building is expected to open to the public in the end of 2023. The completed building will systematically house existing collections, as well as cultural artifacts newly unearthed from the pits of the Sanxingdui Ruins.

Located in the park of the Sanxingdui Museum, the Sanxingdui Museum of Ancient Shu Cultural Heritage covers an area of 44,000 square meters and a construction area of about 55,000 square meters, five times the size of the museum’s present building. The construction of the new building covers an area of 47,800 square meters, including 6,600 square meters for a visitor center.

The project team will use the smart site system to make eight digital management and control modules, including production, technology, quality, safety, materials, green construction, onsite services and engineering data, and realize all-dimensional and digital supervision to staff, machinery, safety and quality progress at all times.

The new building will perform functions of a smart museum, including operation, management, services and preservation through cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things and big data, and provide tourists and the museum, itself, with a unified and complete digital supporting platform both online and offline to strengthen visitors’ interaction and experience in virtue of 3D simulation, VR touring and intelligent explanation.
