Skanska has signed a contract with the Florida Department of Transportation to construct the Pensacola Bay Bridge in Florida. The contract is worth $399 million.
The Design-Build contract is to replace the existing bridge over Pensacola Bay with two new, three-lane bridges, connecting the cities of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Each new bridge will have a length of just over three miles. The total project length is 3.7 miles, including the roadway approaches on each end of the bridges.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter 2016 and the project is slated for completion in August 2020.
