Ground Broken on Harkers Island Bridge Replacement Project for North Carolina DOT

Ground was recently broken on the $60-million Harkers Island Bridge Replacement project on behalf of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The project will replace two 50-year-old bridges to increase capacity for emergency access and evacuation, and reduce congestion and delays for marine vessels and vehicular traffic. Modjeski and Masters has recently been selected for the Delaware Memorial Bridge Protection System contract with the Delaware River and Bay Authority. As the prime consultant for this contract, Modjeski and Masters will design a vessel collision protection system for the northbound and southbound structures of the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
