The concrete pour has been completed during the construction of the pier base of a cable-stayed road-rail bridge in east China, marking the largest continuous concrete pour in China’s bridge construction history. “A total of 1.5-million cubic feet of concrete was poured to build a pier base of the size of 12 basketball courts, with 7,420 tons of steel bars used for the bridge connecting Shanghai and Nantong, Jiangsu Province,” said Liu Ziming, chairperson of the China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Corporation. World’s Longest Cross-Sea Bridge Nears Completion

BEIJING, China – Construction on the main portion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge’s The Cross Harbor Tunnel has been completed. It is the world’s longest, deepest-buried tunnel in the seabed, and the most comprehensive, technically difficult immersed tube tunnel. The bridge will have a traffic permit at the end of 2017. After an official ceremony, reporters, along with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge builder, traveled the tunnel in a battery car. Lewis and Clark Bridge, East End Crossing Open to Traffic

The East End Crossing recently opened to traffic, marking the completion of the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges project. Indiana Lt. Governor and Governor-elect Eric Holcomb announced the newly named Lewis and Clark Bridge by executive order of Vice President-elect Governor Mike Pence at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Indiana approach of the new bridge. Following the ribbon cutting, Holcomb and other speakers were loaded into two Ford vehicles built at the nearby Kentucky Truck Plant in East Louisville to ceremonially cross the bridge for the first time.
