Construction Begins on University of North Texas Science and Technology Building

Construction has started on the University of North Texas Science and Technology Building on the university’s main campus in Denton, Texas. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2026. Skanska is serving as the project’s general contractor.

The 110,000-square foot, $87 million new building will fulfill a critical need for more modern facilities that support collaborative and interdisciplinary research on campus. The building will also expand research space for areas such as biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, physics, data science, and computer science and engineering while creating experiential learning opportunities for students. The building’s distinctive multidisciplinary design will facilitate cross-training opportunities and foster greater collaboration among different disciplines.

The STEM degree programs address the growing demand for skilled professionals in Texas and across the nation, particularly in medical fields, science, and engineering. Training for these careers necessitates specialized infrastructure and laboratories.
