Skanska Breaks Ground on Novo Nordisk Life Sciences Center in North Carolina

Skanska has been selected by Durham Tech Community College to build the Novo Nordisk Life Sciences Center at the college, located in North Carolina. The firm recently broke ground on the project which includes the demolition of the existing building. Construction is expected to be complete in March 2027.

The new single-story 30,700-square-foot center will house 12 flexible, ballroom-style open lab modules, additional classroom space and various break rooms. The building will also feature study areas for the College’s BioWork and Biotechnology programs, as well as employee training space for life sciences companies.

According to Durham County Economic Development, over 500 life science companies are based in the Triangle region. The new building will position the college to continue training the next generation of life sciences professionals who will join the workforce, prepared to succeed in the burgeoning sector for years to come.
