Balfour Beatty recently completed the new temporary NHS Scotland Hospital, NHS Louisa Jordan, at Glasgow’s Scottish Events Campus, on behalf of the Scottish Government. Acting as principal contractor, Balfour Beatty completed construction, along with its local supply chain and partner contractors, in just 20 days. The clinical facility, which has been constructed to provide extra patient capacity, will provide 1,036 beds for COVID-19 patients, should NHS Scotland require additional flexibility during the pandemic. Construction has been completed on the historic renovation of Paradise, located in Toronto, Ontario. Ware Malcomb provided architecture and interior design services for the project, and Northern Structures Limited served as general contractor. Originally opened in 1937 in Toronto’s Bloorcourt neighborhood, the heritage-designated Paradise building recently reopened following the renovation. The project involved converting the existing theatre into a multi-functional venue, including a theatre, restaurant and bar. PORR Delivers Gleisarena at Zurich Central Station

After approximately two and a half years of construction, total service and general contractor PORR delivered the Gleisarena, located in Switzerland. PORR was commissioned by SBB Immobilien to construct the multi-purpose building alongside the train tracks at Zurich central station. The most striking element of this project is the innovative glass brick facade facing the tracks. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the facade’s complex geometry and exacting requirements in terms of building physics made the project a technically challenging one.
