AGC Officials Report Demand for Construction Remains Robust

Construction employment increased in 45 states in February from a year earlier, while 24 states added construction jobs from January to February, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Dodge Construction Reports Total Construction Starts Slip

Total construction starts fell 27% in January to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $865.6 billion, according to Dodge Construction Network. During the month, nonresidential building starts fell 38%, residential starts lost 20% and nonbuilding starts declined by 16%. Comparatively, total construction was 14% lower in January 2023 than in January 2022. Nonresidential building starts were down 2%, nonbuilding starts rose 10% and residential starts lost 34%. Final Steel Beam Set in Roof of New Los Angeles Clippers Arena

An important construction milestone was achieved as the final steel beam was installed in the roof of the Intuit Dome – the future home of the Los Angeles Clippers. Approximately 10,500 tons of structural steel in the bowl was erected in eight months. This includes seven roof trusses that each weigh 200 tons.
