Dodge Momentum Index Grows 6% in May

The Dodge Momentum Index, issued by Dodge Construction Network, increased 5.9% in May to 275.7 (2000=100) from the downwardly revised April reading of 260.4. Dodge Construction Network: Construction Starts Grew 16% in June

Total construction starts were up 16% in June to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.33 trillion, according to Dodge Construction Network. Nonresidential building starts improved by 39%, residential starts fell 1%, and nonbuilding starts grew 2% over the month. On a year-to-date basis through June, total construction starts were up 1% from last year. Total construction starts were down 9% in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.03 trillion, according to Dodge Construction Network. The Dodge Momentum Index, issued by Dodge Construction Network, receded 6.9% in March to 205.6 (2000=100) from the revised February reading of 220.9.
