Two Jacobsen Construction projects recently won Excellence in Concrete awards from the American Concrete Institute Intermountain Chapter. Liberty Sky was named the Excellence in Concrete winner in the Commercial Structures category, while the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple won in the Precast/Tilt-up Structures category. The ACI Intermountain Chapter, an industry group that provides vital, up-to-date training and education for experienced concrete professionals, judged candidate projects against the criteria of architectural and engineering design successes, material and construction innovations, quality-consistency successes, unique project features and value added to the community. Construction Milestone Reached on $456M Wisconsin Center Expansion

The Wisconsin Center District recently gathered with state and local leaders to celebrate the topping-off milestone for the expanded Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This achievement marks the completion of the steel structure of the expansion. Gilbane Building Company and C.D. Smith Construction, who have formed a joint venture as Gilbane | Smith Wisconsin Center Expansion, are the general contractors on the project. Bay Meadows Station 5 Achieves Temporary Certificate of Occupancy Ahead of Schedule

After nearly three years of tackling unexpected project challenges including substantial design-related change orders, long lead times for permanent power and COVID-19, the Bay Meadows Station 5 team celebrated achieving temporary certificate of occupancy 45 days ahead of schedule. Bay Meadows Stations 1 and 5 were One Webcor projects delivered by Webcor Builders, Concrete, Drywall and Carpentry in partnership with architecture firm HOK. UHealth at Doral Medical Center Tops Out

The topping out of UHealth at Doral, a six-story, 160,000-square-foot medical center being built in downtown Doral, Florida was recently celebrated. The facility is part of a mixed-use community in Miami-Dade County. When it opens, UHealth at Doral will include 33 exam rooms, eight operating rooms, three endoscopy suites, 33 cancer treatment units, comprehensive radiology services, a lab, onsite pharmacy, seven-story parking garage and supporting central energy plant. Renovation Project for Ladysmith School District Underway

The Madison, Wisconsin office of Kraus-Anderson has begun an extensive $21-million renovation project for the School District of Ladysmith in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. Designed by Bray Architects, the district-wide project at the middle school and high school features a 22,000-square-foot remodel of academic classrooms, a 10,131-square-foot gym expansion, 2,764-square-foot media center addition, building systems replacements, security upgrades, ADA improvements and a new roof.
