Construction is complete on the eighth and final concourse in Arizona’s Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which includes the addition of eight new gates serving Southwest Airlines’ passengers. McCarthy Building Companies served as the general contractor. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Terminal 4 is the busiest terminal at the airport and handles more than 80% of passenger traffic annually. The airport served nearly 39 million passengers in 2021 and, during peak periods, existing gates at Terminal 4 often reached full capacity. Cautious Optimism Revealed in Annual Construction Survey
Construction contractors remain cautiously optimistic a year after the industry’s post-pandemic comeback started in earnest, according to the 2022 Marcum National Construction Survey. Contractors reported being buoyed by the federal infrastructure bill, growing backlogs and other tailwinds. The annual survey is conducted by Marcum LLP. The survey covers a range of topics, from top priorities to problems, strategies, possible solutions and the lingering effects of the pandemic. Building Milestones Achieved at Central Wastewater Treatment Plant
Several construction milestones at Nashville, Tennessee’s Central Wastewater Treatment Plant were recently celebrated by construction manager-at-risk Brasfield & Gorrie, and Metro Water Services. These achievements included: Completion of all major structural concrete for the plant’s new headworks facility Completion of the plant’s new maintenance facility Surpassing 50% complete on the balance of the plant construction project The improvements to existing wastewater treatment process units throughout the plant include significant process mechanical and concrete upgrades surrounding aeration, new UV disinfection, testing, startup and commissioning.
