Brass Knuckle SmartCut BKCR303 gloves provides dexterity, grip and ANSI-cut level A2 protection. This triple threat is accomplished with a glass fiber and ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene shell — a composite yarn that has a strength-to-weight ratio eight to 15 times greater than steel — and polyurethane coating. The thinner, 13 gauge material delivers deftness without trading its inherent cut-resistance. The non-sticky polyurethane coating on the palm and fingers features excellent grip, even against oils, fats and greases, and can deliver enhanced puncture protection and abrasion resistance, all without adding bulk or reducing touch sensitivity. In addition, the glove’s uncoated back and … Read more

Gear Keeper Heavy-Tool Retractable Tether Minimizes Dangling Tool Entanglement
Gear Keeper’s new RT3-5605 heavy-tool retractable tether’s ultra-low profile keeps tools close to the body when retracted, while still allowing effort-free accessibility when extended for use. Designed for tools up to 3.5 pounds, the retractor employs a very-low 7 ounce force to avoid arm strain when extended, but still strong enough to keep the line taught. When the tool is retracted, lanyard exposure is minimized to avoid snagging, especially when the tool is also placed in a tool bag/pouch. The heavy-tool tether has a generous reach that extends 55 inches, and comes complete with a long-lasting and strong, impact-absorbing Spectra/Nylon … Read more

Emerging Robotics Technology May Lead to Better Buildings in Less Time
By Chris Adam Emerging robotics technology may soon help construction companies and contractors create buildings in less time at higher quality and at lower costs. Purdue University innovators have developed, and are testing, a novel construction robotic system that uses an innovative mechanical design with advances in computer vision-sensing technology to work in a construction setting. “Our work helps to address workforce shortages in the construction industry by automating key construction operations,” said Jiansong Zhang, an assistant professor of construction management technology in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute. “On a construction site, there are many unknown factors that a construction robot … Read more
