Construction officials outlined a series of steps public officials and the construction industry should take to address the impacts of the built environment on climate change. The new initiative from the Associated General Contractors of America is designed to lessen the carbon footprint of the built environment, while also making the process of building projects even more efficient. “The construction industry is the delivery vehicle for building a greener, more climate-friendly future,” said Stephen E. The $1.5-billion project will generate millions of dollars in new economic activity for New York City, while serving as a model of environmental efficiency and sustainability. Delivered by a collaborative team of builders, architects and engineers, Manchester Engineering Campus Development represents the single-largest construction project ever completed by a higher education institution in the UK. Building design was undertaken by Mecanoo with support from Penoyre & Prasad, with detailed design during the technical and construction stages by BDP, and multidisciplinary engineering services provided by Arup. For the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, the BESIX-Orascom Construction joint venture, with the support of its subcontractor Sarens and in cooperation with the Egyptian authorities, has carried out the transport of the King Khufu Solar Boat from the archaeological site of the Giza pyramids to a dedicated building within the Grand Egyptian Museum, located in al-Giza, Egypt.
