Balfour Beatty and hub North Scotland have completed construction works to the new Lochside Academy in Aberdeen, Scotland, on behalf of Aberdeen City Council. As part of the works, Balfour Beatty was charged with the design and construction of a new teaching and sports facility, 3G sports pitch and associated car parking facilities. Over 1,300 pupils and teachers from Torry and Kincorth Secondary Schools will join together to form the new school. CEP Piping Expansion Begins at Children’s of Alabama

Hoar Construction recently started a piping expansion project that ties the Lowder and McWane buildings into the central energy plant on the Children’s of Alabama campus. The CEP was built to anticipate a larger load than the Benjamin Russell expansion facility and to eventually support all existing facilities on the children’s campus. The team will take the hot and chilled water piping from the Benjamin Russell Hospital 6th Avenue tunnel into the McWane and Lowder buildings. New Police Headquarters Topped Out

To the construction industry, topping out ceremonies are symbolic and bring project stakeholders together to celebrate the project. Workforce Challenges Continue to Impact Construction Industry as 9 of 10 U.S. Contractors Report Skilled Labor Shortage

Findings from the recently released Q2 2018 USG Corporation + U.S. Chamber of Commerce Commercial Construction Index show four straight quarters with more than 90 percent of contractors concerned over labor shortages.
