BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As part of their training and education experience at Brasfield & Gorrie, co-ops and interns joined local organization YouthServe to build an outdoor learning center and box gardens at Bertram A. Hudson K-8 School, a Birmingham, Alabama school located in a community impacted by environmental effects of pollution. Bertram A. Hudson K-8 School is an elementary school near the Collegeville community. Industrial activities in the area have affected the environment, leading to the EPA’s involvement in the community. Bechtel Selected to Build First Expressway in Kenya

Bechtel has been selected by the Kenyan National Highways Authority to build the first high-speed expressway in the country. The new 294-mile (473-kilometer) route will vastly improve the connectivity, efficiency and safety of road transport between Nairobi and the country’s main seaport, Mombasa, and will reduce the journey time from over 10 hours to less than four hours. Skanska has invested about $460 million in phase 1 of Nowy Rynek, a mixed-use project located in Poznan, Poland. The six-story office building will have a total leasable area of around 270,000 square feet, with two underground parking levels. Nowy Rynek is Skanska’s third commercial development in Poznan. SEATTLE, Wash. – Mortenson Construction has developed an augmented reality mobile app to help the University of Washington community “see” the future CSE2 computer science building – well before its doors open to students in January 2019.
