DENVER, Colo – The Associated Builders and Contractors awarded the city of Aurora, Colorado’s Public Safety Training Center project the 2016 regional Excellence in Construction award for an institutional building between $10 and $25 million. The 23-acre campus consisted of seven different projects to be designed, built and integrated together in a short timeframe. Report Reveals Construction Worker Perceptions of Worker Safety
Much information about workplace safety and health comes from reports filed by employers. In 2015, the annual National Health Interview Survey included an Occupational Health Supplement – giving workers an opportunity to speak up about safety and health in their workplace. The CPWR Data Center recently analyzed the responses. Among the standout findings: More than 60 percent of American workers consider their workplace “very safe” – but fewer than half of construction workers think so. Construction employment conditions varied widely by metro area between September 2015 and September 2016 as contractors in many areas struggled to find qualified workers while others contending with shrinking public budgets for infrastructure, according to a new analysis of federal employment data recently released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Rider Levett Bucknall Releases Q3 USA Construction Report
PHOENIX, Ariz. – In its latest quarterly survey of U.S. construction costs, international property and construction cost-consultant firm Rider Levett Bucknall reports that construction spending in the United States is on track to increase approximately 6 percent in 2016. Overall, the national average increase in construction costs for the quarter was approximately 1.5 percent. O’Hare Runway Wins Project of the Year Award from CMAA
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Construction Management Association of America has named a new runway built at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, as 2016 Project of the Year. The award for runway 10R-28L was presented to the Chicago Department of Aviation and WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff in October at the 2016 CMAA National Conference and Trade Show Industry Recognition Dinner. The runway also received CMAA’s Project Achievement Award for infrastructure with constructed value greater than $150 million.
