The Dodge Momentum Index Shows 1.5% Gain in Commercial Construction

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Dodge Momentum Index rose 1.2 percent in December compared to the previous month, according to McGraw Hill Construction, a division of McGraw Hill Financial. The Momentum Index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. December's increase brought the Momentum Index to 118.3 (2000=100), the highest reading since February 2009. U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters Earns LEED Gold Certification

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters has received a LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The project, completed under a design-build contract, sits on the west campus of the former St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and is the first phase of the Department of Homeland Security’s planned relocation.
