The 500,000-square-foot facility includes a 3,000-seat worship center and sanctuary, with a 150-foot-wide viewing screen spanning two-thirds of the room and seven high-definition projectors making it one of the largest screens in any church in the world. SAN DIEGO, Calif. — McCarthy has recently topped off the last concrete pour for the J. Craig Venter Institute on The University California, San Diego campus. Completion is slated for later this year. Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects has designed he three-story, 45,000-square-foot laboratory facility. Expected to be the most environmentally friendly and only “net-zero energy” biological laboratory in the world, the new $39-million J. Smartphone Use by Contractors on the Jobsite Jumps 35% from Past Year
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Contractors’ use of smartphones while on the job jumped 35 percent from last year, according to new research from EMA Contractors, a specialty group at Eric Mower + Associates. While the use of tablets (i.e., iPad) rose nearly 54 percent over last year (overall, 22 percent of contractors are using tablets), most contractors (68 percent) said they use smartphones as part of their workday.
