Barton Malow has recently completed the renovation and additions of Davidson Hall at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Barton Malow provided construction management at risk services for the $24.5-million undergraduate and graduate laboratory facility, which began preconstruction in 2009 and construction in the beginning of 2012. The team was led by Superintendent Walt Riggins, a 25-year veteran of the construction industry with over a decade of experience with Barton Malow. A modern industrial build-out for Heroku’s San Francisco, Calif. headquarters, designed by Rapt Studio and constructed by Swinerton Builders, won the “Work Large Merit Award” at the International Interior Design Association 10th Annual Northern California Honor Awards. Heroku, a subsidiary of Salesforce, prioritized collaboration, connectivity and work-life integration for the redesign of its new 85,000-square-foot South of Market headquarters. Swinerton used laser scanning to create a 3-D model of the circa-1908 building before demolition.
