The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design, built by Skanska USA, has earned Living Building Challenge certification, a holistic green building achievement. The certification from the International Living Future Institute independently verifies that the Kendeda Building is among the greenest in the world. The Living Building Challenge (version 3.1) requires a 12-month performance period, during which time the project must prove it is net-positive for energy and water. AGC Launches New Initiative to Address Climate Change, Pushes for Construction of Less Carbon-Intensive Projects

Construction officials outlined a series of steps public officials and the construction industry should take to address the impacts of the built environment on climate change. Jacob K. Javits Convention Center Achieves LEED Gold Certification

Empire State Development, a Lendlease/Turner joint venture with tvsdesign, provided Design-Build services for the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The $1.5-billion project will generate millions of dollars in new economic activity for New York City, while serving as a model of environmental efficiency and sustainability. The 1.2-million square-foot expansion includes several concepts to push the boundaries of sustainability and create a path for future initiatives.
