Completion of Freedom Center Adds to South Huntsville Revitalization Efforts

Turner Construction Company has completed the Freedom Center in southeast Huntsville, Alabama. Freedom Real Estate and Capital developed the Freedom Center using previously acquired properties at 4090 South Memorial Parkway and 4035 Chris Drive as the cornerstones. The project is part of an effort to revitalize South Huntsville. The city of Huntsville has been working to reclaim, modernize and upgrade Memorial Parkway to encourage investment and redevelopment in the area. Annual Ranking Reveals Top 10 States for LEED Green Building

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Green Building Council recently announced the Top 10 States for LEED, an annual ranking that highlights states throughout the United States that made significant strides in sustainable building design, construction and transformation over the past year. Topping the list is Massachusetts, which moved from third to first place with a total of 136 LEED certified projects representing 3.73 square feet of certified space per resident. ABC Releases State Rankings on Policies Affecting Construction Industry

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors recently released its annual update to “Building America: The Merit Shop Scorecard,” which reviews and grades state-specific policies and information significant to the success of the commercial and industrial construction industry. By Wes Robb Vapor barriers…are they all the same? What is the difference between a vapor barrier and a moisture barrier? Isn’t a water vapor barrier the same as soil and gas vapor barrier? There is a good deal of confusion in the industry about vapor barriers.
