Women make an impact across Minnesota’s construction industry on jobsites and behind the scenes. These construction leaders were recognized at the Finance & Commerce inaugural Top Women in Construction awards, where Hilmerson Safety received the Top Women in Construction 2020: Companies to Watch award. Women are recognized in six categories for their innovative approaches to industry development, community involvement and business integrity. Finalists are named in the categories of industry leadership, outstanding tradesperson/craftswoman, outstanding project management/estimating, companies to watch, outstanding service to the profession and professional services.

Superintendent Gary Ey Elected to NCARB Board of Directors

Barton Malow Senior Superintendent Gary Ey ,CDT, of Abingdon, Maryland, was recently was elected as the public director of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards at its 2020 virtual Annual Business Meeting. NCARB is a nonprofit organization made up of the architectural licensing boards of the 55 U.S. states and territories. Mike Simzisko has recently joined Charles Perry Partners, Inc.’s Healthcare Division as a senior superintendent. With more than 30 years of experience, Simzisko has overseen the construction at several of the nation’s leading healthcare facilities throughout Colorado and the Southeast. He brings extensive knowledge of healthcare construction to CPPI, and is a LEED certified professional. In his downtime, Simzisko enjoys the outdoors. He can often be found skiing, rock climbing or kayaking along the country’s many wild waterways.

SEAA Names Person of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Recipients

David Deem, president of Deem Structural Services, Longview, Texas and Bob Beckner, retired senior VP of Peterson Beckner Industries, Inc., Dallas, Texas, were recently honored by the Steel Erectors Association of America.
