A two-floor build-out within the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital, has recently been completed by McCarthy Building Companies. The project included 32,000 square feet of auditorium and conference space to host research symposiums, scientific seminars and other programs featuring the world’s leading experts in genetics, neurology and neuroscience. Construction workers, on behalf of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, commenced the extensive process of pouring 600,000 square feet of concrete flooring in the main exhibit hall—located on a brownfield site once used as a parking lot—in the new West Hall expansion of Nevada’s Las Vegas Convention Center. The facility includes a three-story building with a 150-foot exterior canopy. 450-Bed Miami Beach Convention Field Hospital Completed in Response to Coronavirus Pandemic
A 450-bed hospital, built inside the Miami Beach Convention Center located in Miami Beach, Florida, was completed more than a full day ahead of a very aggressive two-week schedule, ensuring the facility is ready, if needed, before the anticipated peak of COVID-19 in South Florida. The temporary hospital is a state and federal partnership in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Army Corps of Engineers selected Robins & Morton to perform the work. Mid-Century Buildings Renovated into Temporary Healthcare Facilities in California
Electrical contracting firm Rosendin joined the coronavirus crisis response efforts to help communities care for sick patients. The company recently completed renovations to transition two mid-century buildings into temporary healthcare facilities in California and expects to be called into action for similar projects in the coming weeks. Turner Construction contacted Rosendin for the rapid-response project in Indio to convert two buildings on the city’s fairgrounds into medical centers for people suspected of having COVID-19. Renovations Underway at Hood College Library
The Beneficial-Hodson Library, located in Frederick, Maryland, was originally built and opened to Hood College students in 1992. Almost 30 years later, the functionality of libraries is changing and the need for paper periodicals is no longer necessary. The significant space that once was needed for book stacks can now be replaced with collaborative learning environments where students work and learn in groups.
