U of A Student Success District Project Designed to Encourage Seamless Transition between Spaces
Sundt Construction, Inc. recently started construction on the University of Arizona Student Success District in Tucson, Arizona. The project will transform the main library, the science-engineering library and bear down gym, while adding a new four-story student success building into an interconnected district, which will provide indoor and outdoor spaces. The new district will encourage students to move seamlessly between spaces that provide a full range of services and expertise, allowing them to reach their academic and career goals. New $105M Airport Ground Facilities Critical Milestone in O’Hare Runway Modernization
Mortenson used innovative construction technologies and Lean practices to build three major new ground facilities totaling 180,000 square feet for United Airlines at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (Illinois) in less than a year. The contractor fast-tracked the project because United Airlines needed to vacate its previous ground facilities to make way for runway construction at O’Hare. Completion of the United project is a critical milestone in O’Hare’s massive modernization of its runways, which includes adding and extending some while closing others. Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley Campus Building Tops Out
Haselden Construction recently celebrated the topping out of two new buildings at Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley campus in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Haselden Construction is building a 34,000-square-foot fitness center and the 16,000-square-foot Ascent Center, which will serve as the welcome center and entrance focal point for the campus. The two new buildings, designed by Anderson Mason Dale Architects and being constructed to LEED Silver standards, will offer students, staff and community members flexible spaces for classrooms, meetings and lectures, as well as state-of-the art workout facilities. Sundt Begins Construction on New Building at Cypress College
Sundt Construction, Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month for the new Science, Engineering and Math Building at Cypress College, located in Cypress, California. The new $80-million SEM building will replace the outdated structure with a new complex that includes 22 classrooms, 25 laboratories, faculty offices, support spaces and a highly advanced, domed immersive digital classroom. The new SEM building is the first project to break ground under North Orange County Community College District’s Measure J program, passed by voters in November 2014.
