SAN DIEGO, Calif. – To celebrate the topping out—or having just poured the top floor of the 240-foot-tall residential tower now under construction at Westfield UTC in San Diego, California—the project’s general contractor, Suffolk, will host a worksite ceremony on Nov. 2 to mark the project milestone. Slated to open to residents in 2019, the tower is being developed by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. Harper College Health and Rec Center Opens through Partnership with Palatine Park District, Northwest Community Healthcare

Mortenson led the $41-million modernization of the Foglia Foundation Heath and Recreation Center at Harper College, located in Palatine, Illinois. The project included constructing a two-story, 10,000-square-foot addition to the 130,000-square-foot building, which has upgraded the space for Harper athletes, students, faculty, staff and the local community. By stripping the interior to the studs, Mortenson converted underused spaces into fitness and exercise rooms, six classrooms and team training and competition areas, including a new dedicated wrestling room and sports medicine facilities with a hydrotherapy bath. Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Marks Completion for Olmsted Locks & Dams of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project

Direct Steel and Construction recently participated in the largest U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project since the Panama Canal. This summer, the Louisville district of the USACE hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for over 1,000 attendees at the Olmsted site. Situated at the base of Illinois, where the Mississippi, Tennessee and Cumberland rivers connect, the project involved two 110-foot by 1,200-foot locks and an extensive dam to replace the aging Ohio River locks and dams completed in 1929. Construction Underway on Georgia Aquarium Expansion

Brasfield & Gorrie recently joined Georgia Aquarium representatives, Atlanta, Georgia public school students and local community partners to break ground on the Aquarium’s Expansion 2020 project.
