DENTON, Texas – Sundt Construction, Inc. and the University of North Texas celebrated the topping out of the university’s new Biomedical Engineering addition, located at the northwest corner of the UNT Discovery Park campus in Denton, Texas. The ceremony, which commemorated the placement of the structure’s last steel beam, was held with university officials, the construction and design teams and approximately 200 students from the campus for a beam-signing ceremony in honor of this milestone. Skanska Completes Dining Hall on Campus of James Madison University

Skanska USA has achieved substantial completion eight days early on the New D-Hall dining facility on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The dining hall officially opened with the fall semester in August. The more modern three-story, 101,000-square-foot building offers additional seating and entrances directly from the commons. It replaces the demolished Gibbons Hall, known on campus as D-Hall, built in the mid-1960s. MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Gilbane Building Company recently celebrated a major milestone on the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Expansion project in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. NASA Selects Walsh Construction to Build New Research Support Building

NASA has selected Walsh Construction to build a new research support building at the agency’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The total potential value of this contract is approximately $32.7 million. The two-story, 64,000-square-foot building will house approximately 164 employees and include open office areas, private offices, conference rooms, collaborative engineering rooms and a cafeteria with supporting kitchen and dining spaces. Iowa’s First Modern Mass Timber Office Building Construction in Progress

Assembly of the mass timber components have begun on the state of Iowa’s first modern mass timber office building, 111 East Grand. The 66,800-square-foot, four-story multi-use building is located in the heart of the East Village of Des Moines. Featuring a “shou sugi ban” charred wood exterior and timber frame, the building continues the development of retail along Grand Avenue and connects City Hall with the East Village. 111 East Grand is a collaborative development between JSC Properties, Rypma Properties, Christensen Development and Ryan Companies and will be the largest project in North America to use dowel laminated timber.
