The construction industry celebrates Women in Construction Week on March 3-7, and what began as a standard construction project at Yavapai College’s Verde Valley Campus in Clarkdale has evolved into a showcase of women’s leadership in action. The Verde Valley Campus Center for Learning and Innovation, completed in August 2024, has transformed learning for those Yavapai College students it serves with its 11,000-square-foot facility featuring AI-assisted tutoring platforms, media production rooms and immersive learning labs. Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Celebrates New Cone Health MedCenter in Asheboro

A ribbon-cutting ceremony recently celebrated the opening of the new Cone Health MedCenter in Asheboro, North Carolina. The $72-million, 51,500-square-foot facility features an urgent care, primary care, comprehensive cancer center and a pharmacy. The centerpiece is a $4-million linear accelerator. The device provides radiation treatments with submillimeter accuracy. When combined with equipment ensuring the patient is perfectly positioned, it provides the highest levels of safety, accuracy and treatment quality. Gilbane Building Company has recently completed construction of the Kahlert Foundation Complex on Howard Community College’s campus located in Columbia, Maryland. The four-story building, totaling 163,000 square feet, houses both mathematics and athletics. The mathematics program includes faculty offices, traditional classroom learning spaces, computer labs, a STEM makerspace and a “math emporium” lab and classroom where on-demand tutoring is available to students. Western Maricopa Education Center, a career technical education school district serving students in the Phoenix, Arizona West Valley, recently broke ground on a $13.5-million expansion of its Northeast Campus. The expansion will add two new training facilities, update equipment and create more space to serve additional students.
