ABC: Monthly Construction Input Prices Increased 1.5%
Construction input prices rose 1.5% in August compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index data released. Nonresidential construction input prices also increased 1.5% for the month, but are up just 0.2% from a year ago. Rising energy prices drove overall price increases in August. Crude petroleum prices were up 8.9% and unprocessed energy materials prices rose 5.4% last month.

ASCC Launches Sustainability Hotline
The American Society of Concrete Contractors has established a telephone hotline and an email address for the sole purpose of receiving and answering questions about concrete construction as it relates to the industry’s sustainability initiative. Both are for members only. Jim Klinger, ASCC concrete construction specialist, answers both, with input from other ASCC technical staff and consultants. Skanska Breaks Ground on Mass Timber Building in Cincinnati
Skanska and Cincinnati Public Radio broke ground on the Cincinnati Public Radio Headquarters in Ohio. Once complete, the new HQ will be the first two-story mass timber building in the Midwest and the first of its kind in Cincinnati. The $32-million, 35,000-square-foot building will feature two on-air studios, two interview studios, one performance studio, 11,000 square feet of office space and a public gathering area.
