Team members from Galveston Independent School District, Zero/Six Consulting, Gilbane Building Company, J.W. Kelso Construction and PBK Architects gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. Standing behind the podium in a wall of purple and gold, Ball High School cheerleaders, marching band and ROTC all came out to join in the festivities. Western Specialty Contractors – Orlando Branch has completed improvements to Stetson University’s Melching Field stadium in DeLand, Florida. Home to the Stetson Hatters, Melching Field opened in 1999 and features a full-service concessions area and bench seating for 2,500 spectators with grass berms for approximately 500 additional fans. The red brick and stucco stadium demonstrated signs of weathering, as well as wear-and-tear upon the initial evaluation. TDIndustries has earned two national safety awards, a National Safety Merit Award, in the Specialty Trade Contractor category, from Associated Builders and Contractors and a third-place Construction Safety Excellence Award, in the Construction Management Division of Over 4 million Work Hours, from Associated General Contractors of America. The 2022 National Safety Excellence Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum or Gold status in ABC’s STEP Safety Management System in 2022, reflective of their 2021 safety performance data. The goal of the week is to build awareness of the need to improve diversity and inclusion in the construction industry by providing content and resources and harnessing collective power.
