The Standards Council of the American Iron and Steel Institute has formed a new group that will be primarily responsible for the ongoing development of AISI S250, North American Standard for Thermal Transmittance of Building Envelopes with Cold-Formed Steel Framing. The new Committee on Energy Standards falls under the administrative oversight of the AISI Standards Council, which also oversees the Committee on Specifications and the Committee on Framing Standards. A project team comprised of a Turner Construction Company and E.E. Cruz joint venture, along with Arcadis, the Bjark Ingels Group, Scape Landscape Architecture and WSP was selected by the Battery Park City Authority for its North/West Resiliency Project in New York. The project aims to expand and enhance Battery Park City public spaces. McCarthy Building Companies hosted a Construction 101 Event
McCarthy Building Companies recently hosted its annual Construction 101 event in its Newport Beach, California office. A total of 33 students participated. Construction 101 Day provided a supportive, hands-on learning experience with introduction to a construction career for high school girls ages 14-18. Participants learned the basic elements of various construction trades and developed a safety mindset, as well as self-confidence that can apply in many aspects. Construction Workforce Shortage Tops Half a Million in 2023, Says ABC
The construction industry will need to attract an estimated 546,000 additional workers on top of the normal pace of hiring in 2023 to meet the demand for labor, according to a proprietary model developed by Associated Builders and Contractors.
