Blach Construction joined the Tanforan Assembly Center Memorial Committee to celebrate the unveiling of a historic memorial plaza and bronze statue to honor the 8,000 Bay Area residents of Japanese ancestry who were unjustly imprisoned at Tanforan “Assembly Center” during World War II. Construction Employment Increases by 16,000, ABC Says

The construction industry added 16,000 jobs on net in August, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has risen by 311,000 jobs or 4.2%. Nonresidential construction employment rose by 4,300 positions on net, with positive growth in two of three subcategories. Nonresidential specialty trade added 5,600 net new jobs, while nonresidential building added 700 jobs. Heavy and civil engineering employment fell by 2,000 positions. NexCore Names Eric Roark Executive Vice President of Design & Construction

NexCore Group announced that Eric Roark has joined its firm as executive vice president, Design & Construction. Roark was previously with hospital system UCHealth for over 12 years, starting out as the senior internal auditor of construction and most recently as the senior director of design and construction. Some areas of expertise that he brings to NexCore are his experience in staff leadership and development, healthcare construction, budget management and more. Roark holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Construction Management, both from Colorado State University.
