New Hornet Commons to Welcome California State University, Sacramento Students this Fall

The completion of Hornet Commons, a new student housing complex on the campus of California State University, Sacramento has been completed. Sundt Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor on the project. The 365,000-square-foot complex will house 284 apartments and 1,100 beds in six four-story buildings on the 11.5-acre site, which will boost on-campus housing by 33%. The new student housing project will include a swimming pool and a communal facility, which will contain a cafe, fitness center and community room. The project broke ground in 2019 and was designed by Steinberg Hart Architects.

Ground Broken for New Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis Senior Apartments, Community Center

The Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis, Missouri broke ground on the organization’s new Senior Apartments and Community Center in North St. Louis County. The 40,000-square-foot facility will be built in the City of Dellwood. KAI is providing Design-Build services on the project. Construction Complete on New Eye Institute in Fort Myers

Construction has been completed on SWFL Children’s Charities Eye Institute of Golisano Children’s Hospital, located in Fort Myers, Florida. The 5,700-square-foot SWFL Children’s Charities Eye Institute is the largest pediatric ophthalmology office serving Lee County and includes a lobby, 14 exam rooms, offices and nurse stations appointed with colorful finishes. Stevens Construction provided an interior demolition and a complete renovation of the existing building into the new pediatric practice, which is now open.

July Construction Employment Lags Pre-Pandemic Peak in 36 States, Delta Variant Threatens Further Gains

Construction employment in July remained below the levels reached before the pre-pandemic peak in February 2020 in 36 states, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of government employment data.
