ATLANTA, Ga. – Brasfield & Gorrie opens its relocated Cobb County office in the area around SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta in Georgia. The move from the company’s previous Kennesaw location to a completely renovated 113,000-square-foot office building increases the company’s space by about 43,000 square feet and will allow the general contractor to continue to expand in a growing, conveniently located neighborhood. Brasfield & Gorrie’s new office repurposes an existing pair of connected three-story buildings. Nonresidential Spending Retains Momentum in September, up 8.9% Year Over Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. – National nonresidential construction spending fell 0.3 percent in September but remains historically elevated, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors recent analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data. Total nonresidential spending stood at $767.1 billion on a seasonally adjusted, annualized rate in September, an increase of 8.9 percent on a year-ago basis. Note that August’s estimate was revised almost a full percent higher from $762.7 billion to $769.1 billion, the highest level in the history of the series. San Diego Residential Tower Tops Out

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – To celebrate the topping out—or having just poured the top floor of the 240-foot-tall residential tower now under construction at Westfield UTC in San Diego, California—the project’s general contractor, Suffolk, will host a worksite ceremony on Nov. 2 to mark the project milestone. Slated to open to residents in 2019, the tower is being developed by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. Construction Employment Rises by 23K Jobs in September, 315K for Year

Construction employment increased by 23,000 jobs in September and by 315,000 jobs over the past year, reaching a 10-year high, while the industry’s unemployment rate decreased more than half-a-percentage point to 4.1 percent from a year earlier, according to an analysis of new government data by the Associated General Contractors of America.
