Gilbane Celebrates Ribbon Cutting, Grand Opening for Ohlone College Soccer Field

FREMONT, Calif. – Representatives from Ohlone College, Gilbane Building Company and other local officials were on hand for the recent dedication and ribbon cutting for the new Ohlone College Soccer Field in California, located on the Fremont campus on Mission Boulevard. Gilbane Building Company was the construction manager for the project. The soccer field project was part of an overall effort to update the athletic fields on the campus for safety, accessibility and playability. Skanska to Renovate Philadelphia Shopping Mall

Skanska has, together with its joint venture partner Shoemaker Construction Company, signed a contract with Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust and Macerich to complete renovations of The Gallery shopping mall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The total contract is worth $126 million. Skanska USA Building will include its share of the contract worth $61 million, in the order bookings for the fourth quarter 2016. Skanska to Build Life Sciences Building for University of Washington

Skanska has signed a contract with the University of Washington to build the school’s new Life Sciences building and greenhouse. The contract is worth $71 million. The new seven-story building will include more than 52,000 square feet of laboratory space and classrooms. Additionally, Skanska will construct approximately 4,500 square feet of new greenhouse space. Construction is under way with completion scheduled for summer 2018. Construction Spending Increases, Residential and Public Gains Offset Drop in Private Nonresidential Projects

Construction spending was mixed in October as a rebound in residential and public categories outweighed a downturn in most private nonresidential segments, according to a recent analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America.
