Dodge Momentum Index Recovers in October

NEW YORK, N. Y. – The Dodge Momentum Index rose in October, climbing 13.2 percent to 130.9 (2000=100) from the revised September reading of 115.6. The momentum index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. 3 Mega Projects Propel ConstructConnect’s September Starts Higher by Nearly One-Third

ConstructConnect recently announced that September’s volume of construction starts, excluding residential activity, was $42.8 billion. The month-to-month percentage change versus August was an outsized +31.5 percent (or plus nearly one-third). The big improvement in the latest period was thanks to go-aheads for three mega projects combining for a total of $17 billion.
