Construction Job Growth Led by Nonresidential Sector, But Remains Tepid
WASHINGTON, D.C. — National construction employment remained largely unchanged for the second consecutive month, adding 5,000 net new jobs on a seasonally adjusted basis in April, according to analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released by Associated Builders and Contractors. The nonresidential construction sector added 3,200 net new jobs in April after adding 8,500 net jobs in March (revised down from 13,300), while the residential sector added just 900 net jobs for the month. ATLANTA, Ga. – One of the most exciting and iconic projects in the city of Atlanta, Georgia’s booming Old Fourth Ward neighborhood has moved a major step closer to completion. Skanska Signs Contract for $35M for Ongoing New York City Project
Skanska has booked an additional order for its existing contract with The Durst Organization to renovate 1155 Avenue of the Americas, a high-rise building located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Skanska is providing infrastructure upgrades and core finishes to 30 floors in preparation for new tenants. Updates to the building include new floor air-handling units, cooling towers, emergency generator, emergency power riser, core restrooms, perimeter insulation, fire protection sprinklers and a new building management system. The incremental addition includes interior cell phone antenna and IT systems, as well as roofing.
