WASHINGTON, D.C. – A year after breaking ground on the 700 Penn development, Clark Construction has completed concrete operations on two of the three buildings that will make up the 415,000-square-foot, mixed-use development located in the Eastern Market neighborhood in Washington, D.C. To reach this milestone, the project team planned and placed 30,000 cubic yards of concrete, 115,000 linear feet of conduit, 3,500 sleeves in decks and 50,000 square feet of below-grade waterproofing. AK-CHIN INDIAN COMMUNITY, Ariz. – The Ak-Chin Indian Community and Sundt-Yates, a joint venture between Sundt Construction, Inc. and Yates Construction, recently broke ground on a multi-million dollar expansion at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino in the Ak-Chin Indian Community near Maricopa, Arizona. Gilbane Awarded Design-Build of Rountree Rehab Facility
Gilbane Building Company has been selected by Santa Cruz County for the Design-Build of the Rountree Rehabilitation & Re-Entry facility expansion. This expansion will provide approximately 29,300 square feet of new housing and a program which includes 64 minimum security beds, a dayroom, a visitation area, administrative facilities, an intake/release area and facility support space. Data on Severity of Construction Worker Shortages to be Released Aug. 31
At 1 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the Associated General Contractors of America will release new data showing the severity of construction worker shortages nationwide and by region and state* during a media conference call at 800-874-4559 (verbal pass code TURM15731). The new data is based on a comprehensive survey of construction firms and includes data on how many firms are coping with labor shortages and what some of the possible causes are for tight labor conditions. Skanska Builds New Pensacola Bay Bridge
Skanska has signed a contract with the Florida Department of Transportation to construct the Pensacola Bay Bridge in Florida. The contract is worth $399 million. The Design-Build contract is to replace the existing bridge over Pensacola Bay with two new, three-lane bridges, connecting the cities of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Each new bridge will have a length of just over three miles. The total project length is 3.7 miles, including the roadway approaches on each end of the bridges. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter 2016 and the project is slated for completion in August 2020.
