YORK, S.C. — Hendrick Construction, Inc. has won a $2-million contract to renovate the McCelvey Center Annex in the City of York’s historic district. The 18,600-square-foot project features the upgrade of a concrete block and brick structure. The building will house the Historical Center of York County, an archives and genealogical library, and the Southern Revolutionary War Institute when it is completed, which is scheduled for fall 2013. LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Korte Company will begin work on a $6.96-million project for Ameristar Casinos, Inc. The design-build construction firm, located in Las Vegas, Nev., St. Louis and Highland, Ill., was awarded the project based on best value criteria including price, qualifications, experience, staffing and schedule. Construction Materials Pricing Remains Flat in March

Prices for construction materials were flat in March, as plunging diesel fuel and metals prices offset increases in items used in new housing and nonresidential building renovations, according to an analysis of new federal figures released today by the Associated General Contractors of America. FMI Releases Q1-2013 Construction Outlook Report

RALEIGH, N.C. — FMI, a provider of management consulting and investment banking to the engineering and construction industry, released its Q1-2013 Construction Outlook. Although the strength of individual markets is shifting, the forecast for total construction put in place for 2013 continues to show an increase of 8 percent over 2012 levels. The $918,897 million estimate is a solid improvement, but FMI does not expect to return to the days of annual construction above the trillion-dollar mark until 2015.
