 OAKLAND, Calif. — In support of the American Heart Association's “National Go Red for Women Day,” employees from McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and various subcontractors on the Kaiser Oakland Medical Center jobsite participated in an all-day event today to raise awareness about the critical issue of cardiovascular disease in women.         McCarthy organized the event and encouraged employees to wear red to show their support for the campaign. American Legion Post Reopens After Facility Renovations

Construction charity organization AGC Charities, Inc. completed renovations to an American Legion Post located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to make the facility more handicap accessible. Dozens of local contractors donated their time, expertise and money to make a series of improvements to the Kenneth H. Construction Employment, Spending Hit Three-Year High

Revised government data issued shows the construction industry is contributing substantially to economic and employment growth, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials noted that construction employment rose for the eighth consecutive month in January, while construction spending in December increased for the ninth month in a row. SEATTLE, Wash. — Baristas Coffee Company, Inc. announced that it has secured its first location in Tempe, Ariz. The newly constructed location is approximately 6000 feet from the ASU campus and is situated in conjunction with Arizona’s first green construction and technology car wash. It is expected to open mid- to late-Feb. EPA Brownfields Funding Helps Remove Environmental Barriers During Construction in Iowa

Lenexa, Kan.— U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin and other dignitaries are scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thurs.,, Jan. 31, for the All Care Health Center, a new $5.6-million community health clinic in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The facility stands on a former railroad and residential area that was cleared for redevelopment in 2006 after the City of Council Bluffs used funds from a $400,000 EPA Brownfields grant to assess the property.
