Construction employment increased in 39 states over the past 12 months, the most widespread gains since April 2012, according to a recent analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of Labor Department data. Association officials said action on needed infrastructure investments for water and transportation projects would help support continued employment growth for the industry. “It is encouraging that three-quarters of the states are now adding construction jobs on a year-over-year basis,” said Ken Simonson, the association's chief economist. “Employment increases are still intermittent in too many states, however, and nearly all states are far below their pre-recession highs.” … Read more
Stevens Construction Completes Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Stevens Construction has completed construction of Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers in Florida, the children’s dental practice of Dr. Tim Verwest, announced Mark Stevens, company president. Located at 8016 Summerlin Lakes Drive, the 7,903-square-foot facility features four private treatment rooms, eight patient dental bays to serve children and teens, consultation rooms, administrative offices and game area. ABC, Synergis Team Up to Deliver BIM Training for Contractors
ARLINGTON, Va. — Associated Builders and Contractors announced a collaboration with Synergis Engineering Design Solutions, a Platinum provider of Autodesk products, to bring Building Information Modeling training to ABC contractor members to make them more productive, efficient and profitable. Orlando-Based Construction Manager Roger B. Kennedy Breaks Ground on New $21.5M Westgate Town Center
ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando-based construction manager Roger B. Kennedy, Inc. broke ground Nov. 11 for Westgate Resorts" new $21.5-million, 8-story Westgate Town Center, Building 6200, located in Kissimmee, Fla. In making the announcement, Roger B. Kennedy, Jr., president, stated that the Kennedy organization has previously constructed over $250 million of projects at Westgate Resort in Kissimmee and Westgate Lakes Resort in Orlando. Slated for completion in April 2015, the 80-unit timeshare project, designed by General Design Architecture, Branson, Mo., will consist of 64 two-bedroom units and 16 three-bedroom units for a total of 176 keys.
