ABC: Nonresidential Construction Spending Remains Near Record High

National nonresidential construction spending decreased 0.3% in April, according to the latest Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $1.20 trillion. Spending was down on a monthly basis in 10 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. Private nonresidential spending decreased 0.3%, while public nonresidential construction spending was down 0.2% in April. “Nonresidential construction spending fell for the second consecutive month in April but remains just 0.3% below the all-time high established in February,” said ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu. “An unprecedented increase in manufacturing construction spending has pushed overall nonresidential activity 31.9% higher over the past two years. Construction Starts on Behavioral Health Hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania

Construction has started on Acadia Geisinger Behavioral Health Hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania. The 72,578-square-foot facility will include 96 patient beds and serve more than 1.2 million people across 45 counties in Pennsylvania. The new hospital will also be a teaching hospital, training students and residents from Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences. Completion is slated for spring 2025. The project team includes Warfel Construction and Stengel Hill Architecture. The new hospital will focus on delivering essential care for individuals grappling with behavioral health disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and post-traumatic stress disorder. The facility will offer a beacon of hope and a path to recovery for adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients.

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital Completes Phase One in $60M Expansion

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, located in Port Charlotte, Florida, has completed phase one of its $60 million expansion and renovation project that increases the hospital’s capacity and broadens its offerings. Opened to the public on May 13, the project included expanding critical care units by 12 rooms, increasing the number of pre-operative treatment areas to 43 bays, renovation of the main lobby, waiting rooms and registration areas and the addition of a chapel and coffee shop.
