ABC: Monthly Construction Input Prices Surge 1%

Construction input prices increased 1% in January compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index data. Nonresidential construction input prices increased 0.9% for the month. Overall construction input prices are 0.4% higher than a year ago, while nonresidential construction materials prices are 0.7% higher. Prices increased in 2 of the 3 energy subcategories last month. Crude petroleum input prices were up 6.1%, while unprocessed energy materials prices were up 3.8%. Balfour Beatty Tops Out Two-Tower Residential Project in Virginia

Balfour Beatty has topped out two residential towers for JBG SMITH’s 2000 and 2001 South Bell Street project in Arlington, Virginia. The milestone represents ongoing progress on the development project, which supports the transformation of the National Landing area and provides additional residential options in the growing community. To top out the east and west towers, Balfour Beatty teammates poured a total of 44,074 yards of concrete and set a total of 2,949 tons of steel rebar. Work Progresses on Huntsville International Airport Main Concourse Upgrades

Robins & Morton is working on three improvement projects at Huntsville International Airport in Alabama. The $13-million main concourse renovation, which began in April 2023, will increase accessibility for travelers with the addition of a second elevator and a second set of escalators. The existing elevator and escalators will also be replaced, and two new sets of stairs will be installed. To complete the upgrades, temporary ramps were constructed to connect the security exit area to the concourse, maintaining uninterrupted access for travelers to their gates. Longroad Energy’s Sun Streams 4 Solar Project Reaches Construction Milestone

McCarthy Building Companies Inc.’s Renewable Energy team recently reached peak construction workforce on the Sun Streams 4 solar construction project, a 377 MWdc PV and 300 MWac/1200 MWh solar and 300MWac battery storage facility being developed by Longroad Energy, a U.S.-based renewable energy developer, owner and operator. McCarthy was selected as the engineering, procurement, construction contractor for the project, located approximately 40 miles west of Phoenix, Arizona.
