Skanska has signed a contract with the University of Washington to build the school’s new Life Sciences building and greenhouse. The contract is worth $71 million. The new seven-story building will include more than 52,000 square feet of laboratory space and classrooms. Additionally, Skanska will construct approximately 4,500 square feet of new greenhouse space. Construction is under way with completion scheduled for summer 2018. Construction Begins on Mixed-Used Apartment Development
TEMPE, Ariz. – Sundt Construction, Inc. began construction this month to transform a surface parking lot into a 407-unit residential and retail mixed-use development in Tempe, Arizona. The yet-to-be-named project, previously known as University Square, covers an entire city block on the northwest corner of University Drive and Forest Avenue. The development will feature a cascading design with shorter portions of the building facing University Drive and 7th Street and taller elements located mid-block. Skanska USA Builds Alamo Colleges Administration Complex in San Antonio
Skanska USA has signed a contract with Alamo Colleges to build its new District Support Operations Administration Complex in San Antonio, Texas. The contract is worth $45 million. The new facility will include approximately 52,000 square feet of class A office space, 500 parking spaces, office suites, a conference center, campus police headquarters and dispatch and a central utility plant. Construction will begin in January 2017 and is slated for completion in July 2018.
Dodge Momentum Index Inches Up in November
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Dodge Momentum Index moved 0.3 percent higher in November to 133.2 from its revised October reading of 132.7 (2000=100). The index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. The overall index has now posted increases in 10 of the last 12 months, and stands 18 percent higher than its November 2015 reading.
