The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Mobile District recently awarded Hensel Phelps the Operational Support Facility project at MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa, Florida. The project involves construction of a 37,000-square-foot, two-story cast-in-place Central Energy Plant that consolidates and provides all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire suppression, fire alarm, mass notification, closed-circuit television, intrusion detection, generators and switchgears to support the United States Special Operations Command and its mission supporting special operations around the globe. Skanska has signed a $42-million contract with James Madison University to construct its new dining hall in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The new dining hall will be located in the center of campus. With about 108,000 square feet, it will seat 1,500 students and faculty. This building is targeted for LEED Silver certification. Skanska began construction in May 2016. The project is slated for completion in summer 2018.
